Q: How do I log in to Zearn?
A: There are 2 codes you'll need: the "class code" TR3D2K which is the same for everyone and can be always found in the "codes and passwords" menu at the top of our website. You will also need your personal code which is unique to your student and is printed on a strip of paper for you that was attached to the blue letter in the blue bin. These codes will be the same everyday unless I make a change to our program, in which case I will let you know

Q: Why is does the screen go blank when I try to get into zearn?
A: According to our tech support person, if you are having issues with zearn, it is likely your internet connection. Make sure you are not trying to stream or upload anything else while you are using zearn. Another tip, is to use chrome as a browser (even if you are on an ipad) most programs work better using chrome. The only device zearn seems to not be as compatible with is a kindle fire.
Q: How do I get set up with a Dojo Portfolio? How do I post photos on my child's portfolio?
A: When using Dojo, you should be using it as an app- either on your phone, an i-pad, or other mobile device. It can be viewed on the laptop, but at this point the option to upload pictures is only possible from a mobile device. Once you are in your portfolio on your mobile device, click on the button that says "to do" or "assignments" and look for the + symbol. As far as setting up an account: You will find a unique QR code on a piece of paper that was attached to your blue letter. When you go to set up your dojo portfolio, they will prompt you to hold the QR code up to your camera. That's it! Then you will be in! If you are not able to use the QR code for any reason, dojo has just come up with an alternate way to create a student dojo portfolio. It involves clicking on a personal link that has been assigned to your child. You can find your child's personal link here:
There are many resources out there since we are all in the same digital boat, but here is a helpful link that our tech person recommended for setting up a dojo portfolio and posting photos: https://youtu.be/LHiXTC51aTg
Q:What is the deal with the blue bin??
A: The blue bin is like your "classroom in a box" We will not be using all of the materials at once. They are to sustain us for the rest of the school. My goal is to provide you with one activity a day (rotating between ELA and Math) that is offline and hands on. We will also use these materials for our interactive lessons, so make sure to have the box nearby.
Q: What's happening with reading groups?
A: Reading groups are "coming soon" which means they are not on the schedule yet. When we start reading groups, it will be a 20 min. session on Tuesday's and Thursdays with a small group of students who are at the same reading stage as your child. This gives me a chance to provide them with differentiated instruction.
Q: What is mandatory?
A: At this point, attendance is a loose term, and I am basing it on who is making an effort to navigate our remote learning classroom and that is everyone! After Spring break, It will be mandatory to:
-watch the math and ELA video posted every Tuesday and Thursday (I can view who watches them)
-complete at least 90% of the assignments every week so that I can view them on Dojo
-Attend at least one of the whole group zoom sessions a week. If you cannot attend either, please let me know
Q. I am not the most tech savvy person, and I am having trouble navigate the website
A: Start with the options at the top of the page. Our assignments are posted under each day of the week. Everything else is there for your convenience, and can be explored once you have mastered viewing the assignments for each day. Check out this video here where I give a guided tour of the website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we6lwSn5fs0
Having trouble with something? Please leave your question below. That way other people who may be having a similar issue can see the answer. Also, I am only able to see things from a teacher point of view. So, any parents who can chime in with solutions, I welcome your input. This is a community, so lets help each other! Thanks! -Ms. Pearce
